You may be wondering what being employed has in common with human value. I will answer your question with one popular saying, “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop”.

To breakdown my answer, let’s define an idle mind. Being idle means being in the state of doing nothing, thinking shallow. An idle mind is the lowest form of wasting oneself away. When your mind is idle, it means that you are not processing any chain of thoughts. It means that you are not trying to solve a problem or reason out on how to create something, no matter how minute.

Being in this state of idleness is possible if you are unemployed. Employment does not only mean resuming for work at a predefined location by 8am and leaving the place by 5pm. It goes beyond that. It includes your entrepreneurial endeavors, how you spend your time, how you employ your mind to think positive always, to solve problems, to be creative.

Being employed will help your mind get busy with productive thoughts, and make it the workshop of humanity.

Being employed will make you a great addition to the universe and not just some matter occupying space. Being employed will make you a valuable individual among your peers, and the society at large.

These are ways that you can be gainfully employed:

  • Getting a job
  • Starting a business
  • Volunteering
  • Helping out in your neighborhood
  • Being positive always
  • Learning several skills one after the other

Whatever you do, don’t be idle, be employed.
