Love yourself first

You cannot give what you do not have, unless you are borrowing from A to forward to B.

How do you plan to love your neighbour as yourself if you do not love yourself first?

If you are keen about spreading positivity, making people feel loved and happy, then you should love yourself first. Only a happy heart can genuinely wish another person happiness.

Even when the outcome you get from an effort is below expectation, and you start feeling disappointed, the love you have built for yourself will radiate from within to celebrate with your neighbour who got their own desired results.

Selflove works like that. It makes you see the good in every situation and helps you turn negative to positive.

You can build genuine love for yourself by first being healthy. Always eat good food.

The foods do not have to be expensive, but they should be clean and free of junks. Exercise to burn out calories and excess fat.

Have good sleep, and do not forget to drink plenty of water. If you are healthy, you will always be in a good mood to observe nature and see the beauty around you.

Believe that you can achieve whatever you set your mind on. When you believe in yourself, you will be ready to accept any feedback you get, either good or bad. Negative feedback will make you want to do better, while positive ones will cheer you on; self belief helps you to respond appropriately while you work towards your goals.

Do not compare yourself to anybody. If you do this, it shows that you do not love yourself at all. Accept who you are, and place yourself in a work in progress position, as you can always get better.

Comparing yourself to another person can cause ill feelings. You should realise that everybody has her own unique course, so no two persons can ever have the same story.

Appreciate yourself for who you are and what you have.

Always be positive. Forgive easily and do not hold on to grudges, as that will help you expend the energy you are supposed to put to a more productive use.

If you do not let go of confrontations, you are indirectly letting outsiders dictate how you live your life.

If you vow to stop being nice because your last act of kindness was not appreciated, you are allowing only one person to make you turn your back to the other people who really need you. So don’t stop spreading positivity wherever you fnd yourself.

To love yourself does not mean to be overly aware of your outer appearance, or to selfishly put yourself first in every situation regardless of the effect on your neighbour. Rather, loving yourself first puts you in a position of being able to share the love with everyone around you.

If you do not love yourself first, how would you know if you are loving your neighbour the right way or not? Use yourself as a good example first.
